Oh the joys of training! I’m thinking that this marathon training is going to be a rough one! The old Natalie would be freaking out, and thinking negatively that it is all over now, and I might as well forget about the marathon! I use to think that if my training wasn’t perfect, my race day wouldn’t be perfect, and well that’s just insane thinking peeps! There is no such thing as perfection, and we all should try to strive for progress in training NOT perfection! I’ll go through in detail what happened this week, and why I decided to shut down my training until I find out some answers regarding my right hip/leg/butt!
6 | Drop Down Week | 7/7/2014 | Monday | Rest | 0 | Ate, relaxed, foam rolled, took a bath (RECOVERED) Feeling Good after 18 miles! |
7/8/2014 | Tuesday | Cycle | 0 | Stayed close to home, a bit hillier than I would have liked – 50 min session. Light yoga type stretching foam rolled/iced glute/quad (Random Pain in Right Leg started)
7/9/2014 | Wednesday | Easy Run | 3.2 | w/ Dr. Delamora, if anyone needs a great Orthopedic in NYC go see him!! Right Hip/Quad issue – there is this tightness in my quad that is quite unbearable, kind of like my quad may snap! (Sounds sexy right!)
7/10/2014 | Thursday | Rest | 0 | As per Dr. Johnny I rested and got treatment. (Stim, Graston Active Release, & Myofascial Release, & some old dog chiropractic adjustments as he called it) Anyone is the Bucks County area that needs treatment see him, he is the best!
7/11/2014 | Friday | Easy Run | 3 | Tested out the waters, went really slow, and didn’t have positive results. A nice pain pattern of my hip, glute, hammy, calf, and heel. All on my right side, not fun – but it is telling a story, and I may be dealing with more than one issue.
7/12/2014 | Saturday | Rest | 0
7/13/2014 | Sunday | Rest | 0
Total Mileage | 6.2 |
So, currently I have shut down my running training until I figure out what is the source of my pain to make sure that it is nothing serious. I am working with a physician to help me get back to training safely. There are going to be bumps in the road for some of us, but as long as you play it smart, work with professionals, and DO NOT GIVE UP ON YOURSELF! You will be a – ok!!
I truly believe that everything in life happens for a reason, and maybe I am meant to go through these training pains, so that I can help one of you get through any difficult times.
I also believe life has a funny way of working out the way that it is suppose to, which means I may not like how it does work out, however I will accept any challenge life needs to throw at me!
Oh and I decided to enter Runner’s World Cover Contest, so if you would be so kind to vote for me that would be awesome!!! You can vote once a day to until 8/26 too!! Sending lots of LOVE to you all! Click Here!
Happy Training Guys!
